Our February Book Club selection is Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance.

Written by a former Marine and Yale Law School graduate, it is a probing look at the struggles of America’s white working class through the author’s own story of growing up in a poor Rust Belt town. A #1 New York Times Bestseller, “Hillbilly Elegy” is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis, a deeply moving memoir, with its share of humor and vividly colorful figures.

Books are available in the Gathering Place for $10.

Our next Book Club Meeting is Monday, February 25th at 7:00PM

Zion Book Club

There is no membership and all are welcome!  Zion Book Club meets the forth Monday each month nights in “The Gathering Place” (our church hall).  The group discusses the current selection, then chooses the next book to read.

All Are Welcome

People are welcome to join us even if they did not finish the reading of the book or have not read it at all, but just have an interest in what we are doing.  We are always open to book selection suggestions.  We have read novels, historical novels, Christian fiction, etc.  There is no one theme or topic.

The Process

Once the group decides on a book title, a small number of books are purchased through our office.  Books are placed in the Gathering Place along with small envelopes for payment.  The envelope/money can be  placed in the SCRIP box outside of the Parish Administrator’s office, or given to the Parish Administrator directly.  Books can also be purchased individually or borrowed from a local library.

If you have any questions, please contact the office at (860) 628-5759 or  office@zionlutheranct.org
