NOTE:  If you know of someone that is not receiving the email blasts, they may have to add “” to their contacts.

Sanctuary Available: As a reminder from a previous email the church / sanctuary will be open on Sunday morning from 8 – 11 am for people who are anxious or need a time or prayer. Pastor will be there during that time.

On Monday we will share an abbreviated service via email and YouTube including music, bible readings and a sermon from Pastor Jeff. Our goal is to keep connected during this time and we appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on how we can best do that.

Our March Book Club selection is “Surprised by Grace” by Tullian Tchividjian. “God’s compassion and pardon are utterly shocking in their lavish abundance-that’s a lesson God himself pounded into the epic life-story of one man who kept resisting in whatever way he could. The book retells that man’s true story-in a gripping presentation that will open readers’ eyes wider than ever to God’s relentless, purposeful, and inexhaustible grace.”

Our next Book Club is tentatively scheduled for Monday, March 30th at 7:00PM in the Gathering Place although this date may change; please watch for information to come.

It’s Scholarship Time of Year!  If you, or someone you know, will be heading on to (or already attending) a Post-Secondary Accredited program, whether it’s a 4-year college program, a 2-year college program, or any other accredited program, please consider applying for a scholarship from Zion.  Applications for both the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Post Secondary Education Scholarship AND The Czarnota Family Apple Fritter Scholarship are available on the bulletin board by the elevator.  The deadline to submit applications is THIS Wednesday, March 25th,2020.

Changes to our Lenten Season ‘Good Deeds’! Lent is a time to reflect on how we can be better and as Lent began we started talking about ‘Good Deeds’ in Sunday School. The students had begun a ‘Good Deeds Cross’ in the Gathering Place. There are small hearts included on the side for you to add ‘Good Deeds’ that you have seen or done during the Lenten season. Since we will not have worship services or Sunday School for at least these next two weeks, we encourage you and your children to continue to do those “Good Deeds” and let us know about them!
Email Ali at or put something in the mail and we will complete a heart for you and put it on the wall!

The St. Thomas Parish Passion Play has been cancelled. Please contact Diane at 860-628-4197 or Bonnie at 860-621-7005 for further information.

Bottles and Cans can be dropped off in the shed behind the parsonage (rather than behind across the way at the concrete building.) Proceeds will help fund mission trips for our youth.

The 2020 Flower Chart is posted on the bulletin board next to the elevator. Sign up to put flowers on the altar and be sure to complete an order form too (located in a pocket below the chart.)

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
