Ash Wednesday is February 25
January 26, 2009
We will begin our Lenten journey on February 25 with an Ash Wednesday liturgy at 7 p.m. Ashes will also be available in the morning from 7-8 a.m. at the altar. The solemn service includes the administration of an ash cross upon the forehead, for those who desire it. These words accompany the smudge of ash, “Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.” To assist in your Lenten discipline at 7:45 and 10:00 a.m. each Sunday, there will be a time for corporate confession and individual absolution at the altar. This early beginning will give more time for prayer and preparation for worship. Start your Lenten journey a little early at Zion on Sunday, March 1 until March 29 at 7:45 and 10:00 a.m. Join us at Zion as we begin a new walk with God.

A Message from Pastor Debner
January 5, 2009
We are so thankful for your support and prayers these past days. It’s hard to express how thankful I am to have been able to be in Iowa with my family over Christmas. Your plant was so beautiful and brought joy to our hearts even with tears in our eyes. Love always,
Pastor and family
The Epiphany of Our Lord – January 6
January 5, 2009
Epiphany means “manifestation.” On January 6 we celebrate the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles — that is, to all nations. Some Christian traditions celebrate three great epiphanies on this day: the magi’s adoration of the Christ child, Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, and his first miracle, in which he changes water into wine. The word and sacraments are for us the great epiphany of God’s grace and mercy. We go forth to witness to the light that shines brightly in our midst.
